If a scientist doesn't know how to answer simple questions about animals that are already discovered, including how they reproduce their life cycle or even their size, I am sure that there exist more creatures haven't been discovered yet. It is surprising to us as small and vulnerable humans to understand the complexity of the creator. None of us can just go and explore the whole ocean for ourselves and find if there exists new unexplored and amazing things, and that's exactly my point, we really don't know if there exist massive creatures because the majority of us don't have the ability or equipment to go to the deepest places in the ocean. The Giant Squid is just a shadow of the many possibilities that the oceans can bring to us. Also not just that, but if we think about it in history, we can learn that the Squid wasn't the only example of a massive creature new to the human eye. In the Bible, we have the example of Jonah, he was eaten by a massive creature, but the bible doesn't specify what it was. The world may seem small for us that we practically live in a bubble, if we take a chance and look around, we will see that this world is full of new things that we may or may not discover.

I personally think that yes there could be other massive creatures that still exist in the ocean. Mostly there's a lot of myths about there being larger creatures out there. The ocean is so deep and wide that there are parts where we cannot reach. To this day, researchers have only explored only 5% of the ocean. So this has me believe that there could be another massive creatures that we have yet to discover. If you think about it 70% of the earth is covered by just water. So with just 5% that we have explored, i'm most definitely sure there are much larger animals in the ocean that we don't even know about.

According to oceanservice.noaa.gov, only five percent of the ocean water has been explored, leaving an astounding 95 percent undiscovered. Although there isn't concrete evidence, it is safe to assume that within that 95 percent there are creatures we have never seen before. Be that as it may, the square-cube law states, that each time the size of an object doubles, the surface increases by four times, therefore, multiplying the mass by eight times. For example the average blue whale, measures 31 feet and weighs over 170 tons. Due to its mammoth size, it doesn't hunt, it gathers tiny plankton in massive amounts. The bigger the animal, the more food it needs to survive. However, because of its size, its mobility is limited and therefore, so is its food supply. In the Bible, God destroys what at the time where the largest animals: the dinosaurs. Many presuppositions are being made on how big these animals truly were. Some say they measured upwards of 100 feet, others say they measured around 150 feet. No one can know for sure. In any case, God knew we wouldn't have the ability to control them, so he had to eliminate them. In closing, I believe that we have much of the oceans unexplored, and that deep down in the most remote areas there are animals that exceed our wildest imaginations. Personally however, i don't believe animals like the Cthulhu, or leviathan are still living. I believe that it would be too difficult to live in our present circumstances and therefore such animals are extinct.

  4. Yes I do believe other massive creatures do exist in the depths of the ocean. There’s a very small percent of the ocean discovered so I guess it’s safe to say that there are things and or creatures that are not yet discovered or at least creatures we know very little about. According to http://water.usgs.gov/edu/earthhowmuch.html says that 71 percent of earth’s surface is covered by water and that the ocean holds about 96.5 percent of all earth’s water, so that means that there are things we have yet not discovered and won’t discover unless scientists emphasizes to research such things.

There are so many living creatures on our planet that have yet to be discovered, so I would not be surprised if other massive animals existed. As human beings we are very limited; we do not have all of the technology or equipment that would be needed in order for us to fully search the ocean depths. Even if we did possess such tools, the ocean is so deep and large it would probably take us centuries to discover all of the organisms that dwell in it. Instead of wondering if there are other giant animals on the earth, I think we should look for new ways to preserve the species we already know of. Perhaps God has hid certain creatures from us because He knows we would either mistreat them, or they would pose a danger to us. Let us just marvel at his wonderful works on our planet, and stand in awe at His infinite wisdom. Let us grow in humility, and care for the earth He has entrusted us with.

In my opinion I do think that there could exist other massive creatures in the ocean depth. Even though there a lot of scientific laboratories that have radars in the ocean, if they have not been able to use them to find and prove that the giant squids exist, that makes me think that they do not know if there are more unknown creatures. There are lots of myths about weird and huge creatures, but nevertheless I do not think that they are monstrous or extremely huge, they were created by God and he did everything “good in great manner”. The ocean may hide great animals, the giant squid could be just an example of it; or also we can go to the Bible and look for the story of Jonah who was swallowed by a “great fish”, which it is not necessarily one of those that we already know.

  7. In my opinion, As I have read in this article about the findings of giant squids I believe that it is possible that other massive creatures still exist in the ocean. I think so because as I was reading the article it starts off talking about a giant squid named Architeuthis, this creature was among the worlds as the article say captivating and elusive sea creature ever been found. As well as the researchers don’t know much about this squid. They are not sure about how long it grows or how long it lives. If you continue reading the article it also talks about another finding that they found in October 1965. They found a squid that measured 21.5 feet. Wow! Look at this finding it very interesting to see that there have been squids that have washed up shore to give more evidence that there is a possibility of bigger squids in the ocean. Researchers are not sure at all about it being possible of larger squids so how can we say that it’s impossible for larger to be out there. If we simply are not sure or don’t have the information we need to be sure. Finding these giant squids like in Canada’s Trinity Bay and New Zealand’s Lyall Bay gives us evidence that there are creatures out there that we never knew existed in size and in form. Another reason why I think it’s possible because first of all our mysterious God is the one who created all things on earth. There are many things out there that we may not have found yet. As time goes by God, when He knows we are ready He allows us to find and see new things. I used the word mysterious because HE is mysterious. Everything is possible with Him. For an example, talking biblical the story of Jonah. Jonah got swallowed by a whale, in my mind I begin to think what kind of whale was this and how big it was for Jonah to be able to be in the whales stomach for three days. It’s such an amusing and interesting story. I do think there are not only just creatures but many things out there that we have not discovered yet.

Yes, I believe that there could still exist massive creatures in the ocean depths. God’s creation is amazing. We can’t put a limit to it. There are so many details and order to things that we know nothing about. In scuba diving, due to the nature of physiology and physics, human beings can only reach depths of 140 feet into the ocean with the regular scuba equipment and in this case an emergency decompression stop at 15 feet is required. The reason for this is because we breathe a mix of oxygen and nitrogen. As you descend the body begins to absorb the “air” differently. Under water the deeper you go the more pressure is on your body and the nitrogen you will absorb will be harmful to our body in minutes. That being said we would need the appropriate equipment to go pass the sunlight zone where the most common of the sea creatures live. Passing this zone, we find the twilight zone. In this area plants do not grow but there are still plenty of animals. After the twilight we reach the midnight zone of the oceans where there is absolutely no light and most animals that live there produce their own light by glowing. In order to go to these depths, we would need someone with a lot of money, a submarine and some very sophisticated gadgets to go with it. All over the world, we are surrounded by oceans. Only a small percentage of the population in the world have ventured out to see what lurks beneath the surface. If you have taken the chance to explore the ocean you will know that while you might have seen something cool, in split seconds it might be gone. Animals are free to roam around in their home as they please. The biggest creature I have seen while diving is a couple of sharks on the same dive. I was super excited! In conclusion, I believe in what isn’t always visible. So even thought I haven’t had the opportunity to go past the sunlight zone, I know there are big creatures many of us have not seen out there.

This is a question that I think we as humans can't answer but if we are going to judge for what we believe then yes, I believe there should be more massive creatures that human being haven't discover. Its important to know that most humans think that they can discover or see everything that moves around them, but they're wrong. Scientists think that they know everything about this world but it's obvious that they have'nt search some parts of this world, places that nobody have seen or even touched. The oceans are so deep that it's impossible to know whats really in those oceans, maybe massive creatures, fishes that we don't know about etc... I think maybe God have a control on humans because everything that we touch or discover we damage it. If we go to the bible there are examples of massive creatures so off course there should be or maybe there was. I say there was cause maybe they just got extinct so by this time maybe there are none.

  11. In my opinion I think we cannot say that it exists or not, because they have done researches and have found different sizes. They found giant squid of 6.5 m to 13 m big. I think that nothing is impossible. We know that in the world are thousands and thousands of animals that exist and there are many that have not been discovered yet. I think that maybe there is this giant squid but they still have not found it. The ocean is very large, the sea is so deep that there is some temperature that human beings could not stand, and there will be many animals and unsearchable things that has not yet been discovered. It may be that the giant squid is dwelling there in the depths of the sea. Reading this article I remembered that as a child I have seen a movie passed in relation to this topic of a giant squid that ate people. I remembered also the legend of Bermuda triangle, they thought they had some huge beast there who disappeared ships and aircraft. But they have found that most tropical storms and hurricanes of the Atlantic, passing through the Bermuda Triangle. An oceanographers call this area a "hurricane alley". These phenomena are unpredictable and they can generate large waves that can be fatal for not experienced crews.

    • Yes I think that other massive creatures could exist in ocean depths. The fact that this squid could be larger than a school bus scares the heck out of me. Makes me not wanting to go near the water again. Okay, I exaggerated a bit here, but it’s scary though. In a few weeks I’ll be going on a Cruise, so as I’m reading this I’m getting a bit paranoid. Also scientist doesn’t know much about this recent found squid called, Architeusthis dux. Facts like: its biology or its reproduction are vital to us, because it help us, the humankind and it could makes us more aware of this creatures or creatures like this one. Also, if scientists know so little about this animal in specific, then this just tells me that they could know nothing about the existence of other creatures like this one.

  13. In my opinion, it's possible for more gigantic creatures to exist. We know so more about the moon than we do about our ocean, so it is entirely possible that other sea giants exists. And that's not even mentioning half of the isnane stuff that lives down there! We've always had sightings of some strange creature that nobody has identified yet, and while I'm positive that a good chunk of these sightings are either completely made up, or just a case of mistaken identity, it's possible some people have seen somet animal we haven't identified yet. We already have gigantic Mantarays, crabs, and variations of fish, so i think it's possible that sooner or later, we'll find another giant of the ocean.

  14. Personally, I think that it’s possible that there are large undiscovered creatures living in the ocean, but that’s mostly because we still haven’t explored the full depths of the ocean. I think it’s a little creepy given how big it is and how little we really know about because it brings the argument of “I can’t prove it exists but I can’t prove it doesn’t exist” to the table. It’s even more likely that other creatures exist down there when you consider all the credible sightings of large creatures swimming around boats. Yes, it’s possible that a lot of these are just cases of misidentification, but it doesn’t negate some of the other cases of “sea monsters” being seen, and once again, it’s not like we can just disprove them all of a sudden. Even long thought extinct animals have been rediscovered in the ocean depths, so all of a sudden, the idea of a giant shark roaming the ocean isn’t too far-fetched anymore. Personally, it’s better not to think about it too much, since it could ruin our enjoyment of going diving. Given that we know more about our moon and that the ocean is practically its own world within our own, who’s to say there isn’t anything undiscovered down there?

Yes, because there is a good chance that some pretty large animals remain undiscovered in deep oceans. A good example of this are the beaked whales, a group of cetaceans that is hard to encounter and new species keep getting discovered. Large invertebrates are commonly found of course, but few are giant squid sized. I would think that large fish could remain undiscovered; the mega mouth shark was a good example of that a couple of decades ago. Given the vastness of the ocean, I would not be at all surprised if someday some intrepid explorer discovered some bizarre new form of sea life that we never thought possible. It might be some creature of enormous size, a radically new body design, or some unique way that it "makes a living." The key point here is that humans have only surveyed perhaps 5-10% of the oceans, and even lower percentage of the deepest oceans. New species are being found all the time, some of them fairly large. In fact, new species of whales, very large animals which live at or near the surface, were found as late as the second half of the 20th century. More large species of slow gelatinous animals like jellies and siphonophores seem the most likely to be discovered in the future. It seems less likely that the type of sea monster you are suggesting, like a truly massive squid, might still be left to be discovered. But we just don't know enough to be sure. It is possible that exceptional individuals exist, somewhere in the ancient blackness beneath the planet's seas, hidden under ice caps, or among the volcanoes of the vast Pacific. If a creature grew beyond the strength of the largest whales, no mysterious squid beaks would appear as gastric evidence of the existence of a third giant squid species. If it lived its life in the hidden vastness of the deep sea, avoiding submarines, we'd have no way to know about it. The deep ocean is the biggest life zone in the known Universe. For a rare animal, it may still be possible we have not run into it yet. If it never washes up if it never gets counted in gut contents and if it avoids fishing nets and submarines we maybe haven't seen it yet.

With 71 percent of the Earth surface being water, and only less than 5 percent of it being explored, it would be rather foolish to not believe there are undiscovered monsters lurking in the depths. Megalodon fossil findings show this extraordinary creature did in fact roam the ocean, so its existence is not debatable. Having this in mind who’s to say it doesn’t live anymore? Another argument to the seas mysteriousness and unanswered questions would be the Mariana Trench, being 2,550 kilometers in length, 69 kilometers in width, and with a depth of more than three Mount Everest combined that no human technology has ever explored completely, how can we say there aren’t any creatures down there? I personally think there are other undiscovered massive creatures still existing because there is so much we don’t know! We are barely scratching the surface with only less than 5 percent of the knowledge we have on ocean depths. Gene Carl Feldman, oceanographer at NASA, captures the idea perfectly when he says “Humanity knows more about the moon than it does about the ocean.”

  17. This article basically shows how much of the World is unknown to us. There are so many creatures living n the ocean that are completely unknown to us, we'll keep discovering new water creatures all the time. There are many places in the ocean that are still completely innacesible to our current technology, scientists think we have barely "scratched the surface" in regards to water creatures. I love the ocean, to me it is so mysterious and the fact that I don't know what new creatures will be discovered makes it all that much more exciting. I love science and all the great things humans have achieved, and we will keep on achieving great things. Close minded people only see the negativity on everything but as long as we keep on discovering new technologies, exploring new areas and fighting for what we think is right the World will be on good hands.

  18. Honestly Paxton has a huge statistical footing when it comes to the probability of there being such a huge squid. Even though the numbers can be wrong one is definitively right; huge creatures do exist. the fact that throughout history there always exists these stories about the sea, mermaids, the Kraken, and the loch ness monster. makes you wonder if in fact they are real. The oceans are so vast and full of ceatures that haven't been discovered up until recent years. Paxton is basically bringing a "myth" to become a reality. The 1879 sighting of the 9 foot mantle is evidence that yes they vary in size but there is a huge possibility that they can grow to be 60 feet long. if these are just what washes up on a shore how can we rule out that reality. the argument saying that sperm whales would had their beaks in their stomach is ridiculous because how would a beast thats 90 feet long be consumed by a smaller creature.

Do you think other massive creatures could still exist in the oceans depths? Why or why not?

Of course, scientist haven’t even discovered the entire ocean yet. The ocean still has so many creatures that haven’t been discovered. Every year or so, we see articles about a new discovery in the ocean. There could be so many other types of squids in those depths that have yet to be discovered. The human capability to get there has not be even done yet. It will be quite the story if a creature, like the lockness monster actually exist. Not that I’m a believer of such; but simply because giant squids were considered a myth, nobody thought that they would actually exist. Dinosaurs existed and even a cute octopus, yet they were considered a myth simply because they dis not see it. Suddenly, many scientist started digging and what do you know? A dinosaur and a cute fluffy octopus appears. So yes, I believe that there are other massive creatures that could still exist because we haven’t gotten the chance to discover with such depth yet.

  20. Yes; One of my favorite books growing up was 20,000 leagues under the sea by Jules Verne. Reading this book my mind was opened up to the possibilities of a whole new world that while fictional was one that seemed possible. In a world where discovery has taken a backseat to space; we have become comfortable with our world. The general public seems to have lost it's love of discovering new things within this blue world. Reading this article brought to my imagination the scenes of another untold world that we have yet to discover. A world where massive creatures, beautiful yet dangerous ecosystems, and immeasurable treasures lie in peace left alone by the turmoil that we cause to our world on the surface. There are but a few wonders in the world left in this world that haven't been ignored or lost in the pages of books and places that we as a generation do not care about. Giant squids may be one of them but one can only help but to wonder how many more giants reside within the deep blue sea.

Do you think other massive creatures could still exist in the oceans depths? Why or why not?
Absolutely! I am 100% on the thought of giant sea creatures. First of all, our oceans really haven't been explored all that much. I think it's only like 3% that has been explored. That's not at all close to enough to say that there aren't some sort of massive sea creatures down there. There is so much about the oceans basic creatures that is still being learned about and still need more research. Secondly, since we haven't yet explored all the ocean or its depths I'm sure these giant creatures still exist because there are no humans bothering their way of life (considering that pollution isn't an affect). Thirdly, just like dinosaurs existed, why would we negate the existence of giant creatures just like dinosaurs in existence? And especially in a place that hasn't been explored? I just think that it's safer for to lean on the thought that there is way more out there that we don't know about, that we aren't aware of and possibly can't even imagine. Also, in Genesis 1:21 it says that God created great sea creatures. And, in other bible versions it says he created great sea monsters. So that's honestly enough for me to believe they exist.

Do you think other massive creatures could still exist in the oceans depths? Why or why not?

Of course, i believe that there's a lot of giant creatures in the depths of the ocean. I believe that because there's some points that the human doesn't achieve already. There's some areas that the human doesn't know. We live in a world that we basically know so little of it. There's a lot of stuff that we don't know in the present. We can think that there's a lot of giant creatures because of that. The unknown part of the world can be very unpredictable. For me that's interesting because we can still learning from all around us. I saw some videos on YouTube demonstrating images of giant creatures but we have to look forward and make our research so we can see which one of them is real. The article talks and demonstrates the existent of the giant squid and for me it’s awesome to see that kind of creature. It can be as large as a ship. So think about that, you swimming at the beach and something like a giant squid appear near you that would freak us out. The world is changing and the temperatures have a relationship with the sizes of their bodies. So if the global warming still increasing we can see animals getting bigger. That can affect the animals that we know and the ones that we doesn't.

Yes, I can unequivocally confirm that there are sea creatures that have not been discovered yet. I can make that assertion because I have witnessed the discovery of a few new species of organisms, one of them being a whale. Now, science is an evolving discipline. It is open to new discoveries. In fact prior to the 1940's many scientists were confident that most of all life forms on earth had been to a large extent discovered. Then , literally under their feet they discovered a whole new super-kingdom, the archeobacter, that not only existed on earth , but in fact preexisted all of the lifeforms we knew about then. Furthermore, they were not a small tiny pocket of life that was clinging onto existence by a thin thread, but infact were still a dominant form of life and in fact pound for pound as a superkingdom were equivalent in weight to all other lifeforms that exist on earth today. The reason that they lay undetected is because they live in the interstices of rocks well beneath the surface of the earth. They were found when oil companies were drilling deep within the interior of the earth's crust in search of oil. In terms of new species of animals. I was fortunate enough to snorkel over a whale in about 1984. I was working as a marine biologist on The Quicksilver Outer Barrier Reef Cruises at the time. I had a copy of some reference texts about whales on board, and could identify it as a Minke whale. However, the global sitings of the minke whale did not include the Great Barrier Reef. After many years of diving with the Minke Whales along the ribbon reefs I mentioned the seasonal migrtation to an whale expert ( Alastair Birttle). He claimed that the Minke Whale was not found along the Great Barrier Reef. John Rumney (eye to eye marine expeditions and manager of Undersea explorer) and I convinced him to check them out for himself, and organised a trip for him. After he was convinced that the Minke Whales were found on the Great Barrier Reef as we said, he set up a research project with Townsville Museum and not only found that the whale did inhabit the waters of the Great Barrier Reef, but in fact that this was a new species of Minke Whale.

  25. Yes, there can still be massive in the oceans depth, The scientists have not yet discovered a 100% of our planet, most of our planet is composed of water, well to be almost precise our planet is 70% water. In the past bigger creature have lived in the ocean for example the megalodon was almost 16 meter long.

It is incredible when you think on the vast size of the ocean. I think that we can’t really imagen the incredible size of ocean but to have an idea, the dry land is equal to one fourth of the planets size, this means that the remaining three fourths is water. It is incredible that 75% of the planet is oceans. I don’t remember where, but I read that scientist have only explore 10% of the oceans, even if I am wrong and they have explore 50% of the oceans there is a lot of space that we don’t know of and who knows what secrets are in there. There are some documentaries that talk about gigantic creatures of the oceans; and who am I to say that is true or false. I think we need to have an open mind because if there isn’t any incredible creatures it will be okay, but if we always thought that it couldn’t be possible and soddenly it is, our mind can get a little unsettled.

Obviously, I do believe and still thinking that other massive creatures do exist in the ocean. Fo what i Know the ocean have not been discovered at all so I think it is fine to say that there are creatures that are not yet discovered on the depths of the ocean. And I love the ocean. For me I can be 24/7 in it, so it is mysterious that I do not know what new creatures will be discovered for me makes it more adventurous to see what will come out of the ocean
